Where have I been, and where do I hope to still go.
Over the years, I have had the privilege to hike some of the most wonderous trails in the world. As a much younger man, I hiked the Routeburn Track in New Zealand, the Chilcout Trail in Alaska/Yukon as well as the West Coast Trail a couple of times. Then life happened for a couple of decades and hiking got put on the back burner. Now, as the years march along, I have had the time to rekindle my passion for this pastime.
In recent years, I was able to convince our son that this whole hiking thing was kind of cool. So he and I hiked the Juan de Fuca Trail, the West Coast Trail (third time for me!), the Wonderland Trail (Washington State), and the Tour de Mont Blanc (France, Italy and Switzerland).
Then I got the Pacific Crest Trail fever. As of this writing, I have completed 1530 miles of the PCT. Once this whole Covid thing is finally in the rear view mirror, I hope to complete the remaining 1120 miles of this beast.
In the meanwhile, the trail that has my attention within our “local” area is the Great Divide Trail. Hopefully I will get a bash at it this summer (2021).
